Study Of The Influencing Factors Of The Elderly Health Literacy In Zhouzhuang Town, Kunshan

OBJECTIVE In order to understand the old people’s ability to get healthknowledge, information, services, and grasp of the health life style, skill level is associatedwith health literacy, such as the ability to obtain; To explore the influencing factors of theelderly health literacy, seeking the elderly health service model with the socialdevelopment.METHODS Using cluster sampling method,four administrative villages wererandomly selected as the object of study from all administrative villages in ZhouzhuangTown, a questionnaire survey was carried out of all the people who were over60years oldin each administrative villages. For the selected village, village cadres personal interviews,understand the basic health of village, the new rural construction, the style of a recent yearsactivities and health promotion and health education related work, etc.Data was put intoEpidata3.1database in double entry way.Using Descriptive Statistics program in the SPSS17.0Software described people health literacy level,which was χ2tested by SAS9.0Software.The health literacy related factors about60-69years old people were analyzed bythe binary classification logistic regression.RESULTS The number of elderly residents in Zhouzhuang Town with healthliteracy was7.8%, where the concept of health and basic knowledge of literacy, healthylifestyles and behavior literacy, health skills literacy awareness were respectively66.8%,54.8%and57.9%.The independent factors which affect health literacy were education level,the average monthly income and occupation, where the education level and the averagemonthly income was protective factors, the most influential factor was the education level.Health literacy of migrant workers is lower than other groups.CONCLUSION The health literacy of elderly residents in Zhouzhuang Town washigher than the national elderly which was evenly3.8l%, but the concept of health andbasic knowledge of literacy, healthy lifestyles and behavior literacy, health skills literacyawareness did not reach the target which was80%. The priority interventions of elderly health literacy in Zhouzhuang Town was the low level of education, low-income andmigrant workers, the elderly should be encouraged and guided to participate in the healthpromotion related activities.
