Background and aimsCongenital microtia is one of the most common facial deformities in plastic surgery. A positive attitude of congenital microtia patients is not only relates to the satisfaction of operation, but also related to the physical and mental health of deformity patients in the future. Psychological analysis of Patients with microtia could provide the basis of further physical and psychological health.MethodAfter informed consent,106patients with congenital microtia (selected randomly from September2011to March2014)accepted simple interview and questionnaire survey. Through the observation of expression, behavior, motion of congenital microtia patients, we used SCL-90scale and quality of life scale to evaluate the features of congenital microtia patients with statistical treatment and comprehend mental health status and the influence factors of psychological problems.Results1.Finally,106questionnaires were distributed and96questionnaires were reclaimedin this study, total efficiency was90.6%.All subjects completed the scale, including68males(71.1%) and28females(28.9%).The first visit was7to37years old, containing25subjects(26.0%) from7to12years,38subjects(39..6%) from13to18years,16subjects(16.7%) from19to24years, subjects(17.7%) over-24s.Birthplace of rural33cases(34.4%),and born in city63cases(65.6%). Fathers’education within9years30cases(31.2%) and with nine years or more66cases(68.8%). Mothers’education within9years36cases(37.5%) and with nine years or more60cases(62.5%). The abnormal rate I20cases (20.8%), the abnormal rate‖62cases and the abnormal rate III14cases (14.6%)。The operation group37cases (39.6%) and without surgery group59cases (60.4%)。 2. SCL-90scale statistical analysis.(1). the detection of depressive symptoms in different demographic variables of showed education level of parents within9years was significantly higher than that with nine years or more and rural patients is significantly higher than the city.(2). Interpersonal sensitivity factor detection showed rural patients was significantly higher than that of urban. The result was with statistical differences.(3) Interpersonal sensitivity factor Scoring statistics showed that parents’ education degree, the demarcation of the birthplace, different age groups (rural and urban), surgical group and those who did not, deformity degree and so on were with statistical differences.3. The results of quality of life factor analysis of congenital microtia patients(1)The physiological function and mental function factor analysis of congenital microtia patients were with Statistical differences (p<0.05),including age factor.(2).The physiological function, mental function factor and social function analysis of congenital microtia patients were with Statistical differences (p<0.05), including parents level of education factor, the birthplace factor, surgery factor and deformity factor.Conclusions:1. SCL-90(90symptoms self-evaluation scale) and ear malformation patients quality of life scale was suitable for psychological assessment of deformity patients.2. Patients with microtia were with the psychological characteristics of depression, interpersonal sensitivity, self-abasement, etc.3. The issue of age, parent level of education, the birthplace, surgery and deformity of microtia patients had different influences on their psychological, physiological and social function.4. Microtia patients need not only surgical method with scientific and accurate design, but also a comprehensive assessment which could improve patient satisfaction of operation result and avoid medical malpractice or dispute.
