Objective: Based on the previous study, this thesis will give a further discussion onthe physiological and pathological relationship between spleen-stomach and the heart,as well as the correlation between spleen-stomach and coronary heart disease. By theway of sorting and studying relevant literature, the thesis will present a comprehensiveunderstanding about the status of spleen-stomach and the role it plays in thepathogenesis and treatment of coronary heart disease, and then it will act as atheoretical support to the whole theory of treating CAHD from spleen-stomach.Method: The theoretical research method. By the review of “Nei Jingâ€,“Treatise onfebrile diseasesâ€,“Treatise on spleen-stomach†and some other related ancientliterature as well as the sorting and analysis of relevant articles retrieved inCNKI, Wanfang Database and Vip Database, the thesis will describe the role spleen-stomach plays in the pathogenesis of coronary heart disease, and expound the theory oftreating CAHD from spleen-stomach further. Results: Through the reorganization and study of all the documents, it is found that theheart and spleen have close relation:â‘ Their corresponding five-elements related witheach other: The stomach-spleen is subsumed to earth, the heart is subsumed tofire, fire generating earth, so they are like a mother-child relationship.â‘¡Relationthrough meridians and collaterals: The heart and stomach-spleen are interlinkedthrough meridian qi and affected each other.â‘¢Correlation in qi transformation: Thespleen is the source where qi and blood originate from, while the heart mains veins, thetwo have the relationship between a source and a flow. The heart has the function ofhosting blood vessels, but it won’t work without the spleen’s function of transportingand raising the clear.â‘£Close proximity: The heart occupies the diaphragm while thestomach located under the diaphragm; they are only separated by a membrane. Heart and spleen are also correlated and interacted pathologically: First, when spleen isweak, the source of qi-blood will be insufficient. This insufficiency of qi-blood willaffect heart, causing heart meridians and collaterals less neutralization. Thisphenomenon will ultimately cause “No-Neutralized painâ€. On the other hand, improperspleen condition induces endogenous phlegm, which blocks the sanjiao (tripleenergizer) qi activity. Qi stagnation will cause blood stasis, eventually leading to qistagnation and cold evil green knot. Eventually, it will hinder the normal operation ofthe blood, block heart arteries and veins, and lead to the occurrence of coronary heartdisease and pain. This kind of pain is called “No-Through pain".Fundamental pathogenesis of coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (CAHD) is “weakin source while strong on appearanceâ€. Weak in source is the deficiency of qi andyin-yang; Strong on appearance is actually a phlegm turbidity, qi stagnation, bloodstasis and evil cold. Chinese tradition medicine always treats disease on the source, sothe treatment should be stressed on regulate spleen and stomach. Meanwhile, bloodcirculation by removing blood stasis and unblock the yin-yang balance. Conclusion: Through the theoretical research of spleen-stomach and CAHD, the thesisarrived at a conclusion that balancing yin-yang in spleen-stomach system is effectivein treating CAHD. |
