ObjectiveBy observing the efficacy of treating abodominal postoperative gastrointestinal dysmotility at multiply angels by acupuncture on Yangming-meridian therapy, evaluate the curative differences objectively and provide the convincing evidence for the optimization plan of acupuncture on Yangming-meridian therapy.MethodFrom May2013to February2014,60patients with abdominal postoperative gastrointestinal dysmotility with the inclusive criteria were selected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM. Patients were randomly assigned into test group (acupuncture on Yangming-meridian therapy) and control group (conventional nursing) in the proportion of1:1, with30cases in each. Test group received acupuncture on Yangming-meridian therapy while control group only received conventional nursing. Routine acupoints selection for electroacupuncture:Zusanli, Shangjuxu, Xiajuxu, Hegu, and Quchi. Acupoints were selected on the both sides. Electroacupuncture was applied at1st day after operation, twice a day, till the recovery of the gastrointestinal function, no more than five days. Patients were evaluated by the recovery time of the first bowel, the passage of gas and defecation, resumption of full-flow diet; as well as the withdrawal time of nasogastric tube, the postoperative inpatient days, and clinical grading of abdominal distension, pain, nausea-vomiting, etc. The measurement data was transacted with SPSS16.0software.ResultsThere were no statistically significant discrepancy in the general information of the patients, such as the gender, age, course of operation, bleeding during surgery, types of anesthesia and surgery (P>0.05), revealing the comparability of the two groups. The comparison of the overall effectiveness:the total effective rate was93.30%in the test group and63.30%in control group with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After treatment, it was showed that the recovery time of the first bowel, the passage of gas and defecation, resumption of full-flow diet; as well as the withdrawal time of nasogastric tube, the postoperative inpatient days, and clinical grading of abdominal distension, pain, except the nausea-vomiting grading, in the test group were obviously superior than in the control group (P<0.05), revealing the significant differences.Conclusions1. The overall effect of the test group was superior to the control group.2. Compared to the conventional nursing (the control group), acupuncture on Yangming meridian therapy (the test group) could effectively recover the abdominal postoperative motility and the resumption of full-flow diet, shorten the retention time of nasogatric tube, decrease the postoperative inpatient days.3. Compared to the conventional nursing, acupuncture on Yangming meridian therapy could effectively improve the clinical symptoms, such as abdominal distention, pain and bowel-sound, not including the nausea-vomiting.
