| Objective:To investigate the prevalence of the burdenã€anxiety and depression in theprimary caregivers of advanced gastric cancer patients and its related factors. It wouldprovide the theoretical foundation of effective interventions. Methods:During September2012to March2013,177primary caregivers of advancedgastric cancer patients who were hospitalized in the First Affiliated Hospital ofNanchang University were recruited in this study. The caregivers’ burden of patients with advanced gastric cancer in descendingorder of the five dimension scores according to the mean size:Financial Problem(FP),Disrupted Schedule(DS), Lack of Family Support(FS), Health Problem(HP),Self-esteem(SE).2. After analyzing the multiple factor, the primary caregivers,FinancialProblem(FP) dimension scores related to factors: the educational status of theprimary caregivers and monthly incomes. Factors related to caregivers’ DisruptedSchedule(DS) dimension scores are performance status of patientsã€occupation andthe educational status of primary caregivers. factors associated with Lack of Family Support(FS) dimension scores: monthly incomes〠whether other family members toshare caregiving. the primary caregivers,Health Problem(HP) dimension scoresrelated to factors: whether caregivers to have chronic disease and performance statusof patientsã€whether caregivers to have previous care experience. the Statisticalsignificance factors with primary caregivers,Self-esteem(SE) dimension scores:education level of the primary caregivers〠the relationship with patients.3. This research finding:60.23%of primary caregivers were at risk for anxiety, primary caregivers, anxiety was significantly related to four factors: relationshipwith patientsã€the duration of disease in patientsã€primary caregivers, ageã€patients, cancer pain.62.57%of primary caregivers have depression, factors that affectcaregivers, depression are relationship with patientsã€the duration of disease inpatientsã€primary caregivers, ageã€performance status of patients. The degree ofknow to disease in patients.Conclusions:1. The factors that could effectively alleviate the primary caregivers, burdenwere the adult children being the caregiversã€the higher annual income〠having otherfamily members to share caregiving. The higher burden was related to the caregiverswith primary educational〠the lower annual income〠lack of pervious careexperienceã€professional for civil servants.2. The primary caregivers of patients with advanced gastric cancer have severeserious anxiety and depression, the common factors influencing the primarycaregivers, anxiety and depression were the duration of disease in patientsã€therelationship with patientsã€primary caregivers, ageï¼›in addition, patients, cancerpain could increased anxiety level of primary caregivers, the degree of know todisease in patients also were high risk factors of the depression. |
