Objective To study the expression of KISS-1and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF-C)in papillary carcinoma of the thyroid and the association with the clinicalpathological features of the malignancy, and to analyze the correlation between theexpression of KISS-1and VEGF-C.Methods Try to analyze the correlation between theprotein expression rate and clinical and pathological characters, and also the correlationbetween the expression of KISS-1and VEGF-C by detecting the expression of KISS-1and VEGF-C in48papillary carcinoma of the thyroid tissues and20normal thyroid tissuesby using the immunohistochemistry SP method. Results The positive expression rate ofKISS-1and VEGF-C is significantly different between papillary carcinoma of the thyroidtissues and normal thyroid tissues(P<0.01). The positive expression rate of KISS-1andVEGF-C in papillary carcinoma of the thyroid tissues is quite different because of differenttumor sizes, cervical lymph node metastasis and clinical stages (P<0.05),but there is noclose correlation with sex, age and extracapsular spread (P>0.05).The negative correlationexists in KISS-1and VEGF-C(P<0.05). Conclusion The results demonstrate that theexpression level of KISS-1and VEGF-C is correlated with papillary carcinoma of thethyroid, tumor size, cervical lymph node metastasis and clinical stages (P<0.05),but there isno close correlation with sex, age and extracapsular spread (P>0.05).The negativecorrelation exists in KISS-1and VEGF-C(P<0.05). The joint detection of KISS-1andVEGF-C may play an important role in the judgment index for the malignant potential ofthyroid carcinoma.
