In the development of modern construction, the application of metal materials as one of the main construction materials, start from the founding of the nation. From this perspective, the application of metal materials has witnessed the development of the city.With its distinctive characteristics from traditional materials, metals play a very different role in the history of Chinese modern architectural history. However, with the further development of historical building protection work, Metals are received for a variety of reasons. The lacking of in-depth study of metals, has seriously affected the protection and restoration of modern architectural.Protection and restoration of historic buildings is a very professional job, differentmaterialism different historical periods need different repair strategy and technology to ensure its safety and the value of history, science and art. Just like wood, brick, stone and other materials, metal has its unique value. Since Microbial degradation is the most common and serious reason of metal degradation, this study target on Beijing modern construction,and the main content including metals’ microbial degradation and protection and restoration strategies.Chapter I: Introduction.Mainly introduced the research background, significance, research status at home and abroad; explained the important concepts connected to this article; introduced the framework and the innovation points of this paper. Chapter II: Outstanding modern building metal material degradation and lesion type research. On the basis of field investigation,metal materials in superior modern buildings are summarized in the preservation of the status points out the lack of modern architecture protection and restoration of metal materials, Research in the field of modern building are analyzed in detail based on common causes of degradation and degradation type metal materials.Chapter III: Research on the mechanism of microbial degradation of metals in outstanding modern buildings. Studied in metal degradation microbial species, the degradation mechanism of different microorganisms,microbialdegradation mechanism of different metals, and microorganisms involved in the degradation of the type and the factors affecting microbial degradation.Chapter IV: Study of protection and restoration strategies based on metals’ microbial degradation.Explained the process of protection and restoration,introduced the methods of identification,detection, material cleaning and repair technology in detail. Explained the significant of the preventive protection system to protection work of historic buildings, and gave advice of the strategy to the work of protection and restoration of Beijing modern building based on the study of microbial degradation mechanism of metals.Chapter V: Established the evaluation system for protection and restoration of modern microbial degradation, Analyses the domestic related instance and make a comment. Conclusions: Summarized the conclusions of the research and pointsout the future research direction of the project.
