Clinched joints technology is widely used in autobody assembly connection. The stress concentration of the component connection makes it be fatigue part of the whole structure. Therefore, the fatigue character of clinched joints plays a significant role in the safety of car. Considering that the location of clinched joints usually be the damage point of structure, reasonable arrangement of clinched joints location can not only prolong the life of automobile, but also save a lot of materials, which will play a positive role in automotive light weighting. The objective of this study is obtaining the fatigue character influence of shear structure and detachment structure with different distance from side of clinched joints and lap joint size of two plates by the way of analyzing fatigue life of shear structure with two clinched joints and detachment structure with two clinched joints, finally find out the arrangement law of clinched joints location. According to the target, the main work of this study are as follows: First getting the largest strain and fatigue life of shear structure and detachment structure by the way of many tests of structures with clinched joints. Then obtaining the static and fatigue parameters of shear structures and detachment structures through finite element simulation, meanwhile compared with the test parameters, in order to verifying the validity of the established models. Finally, predicting the fatigue properties of shear structures and detachment structures under different distance from side of clinched joints and lap joint size of two plates. Thereby getting the arrangement law of clinched joints in shear structures and detachment structures.In this research, the quasi static tensile tests of Al5052 can obtain yield limit and ultimate strength. The quasi static tensile tests of shear structures and detachment structures can get the maximum tension load the two kind of structures endured. Based on the test data, the fatigue test loads of shear structures are determined.Established the finite element models and compared the quasi static tensile results of simulation with experiment results, then verifying the effectiveness of structures. Simulating fatigue life of some shear structures and then compared with test structures. It is concluded that the predict life of simulation is shorter then test fatigue life. Considering the effect of discrete degree of fatigue, the errors of simulation life and test life are within an order of magnitude. The life distributions are consistent between simulation life and test life which also verify the validity of established finite element models from the aspect of fatigue.At last, analyzing fatigue characters of shear structures with three kind of clinched joints from side and four kind of lap joint size plates, analyzing detachment structure of two single load spectrum fatigue analysis in with three kinds of clinched joints from side and three kinds of lap joint size plates, aimed at layout two clinched joints to make shear structures and detachment structures be best working life.
