With the increasing of city population, the development of the industry and agriculture,and the increasing consumption of urban water in Urumqi, The reasonable supply of waterresources in Urumqi has become the important factors which restrict the development of theregion. At present, most research is committed to hydrologic forecast or water resourcesplanning and management, but a single model of work can’t form an organic unity of thewhole. Hydrological forecasting model is often used in the upstream water, but the waterresources planning and management model is applied in the downstream area of water area. Inorder to make the prediction of water resources and water resources planning managementbecome a complete system, this paper tries to use the Xin an river model and WRMM modelfor coupling.This paper analyzes the water resources of Urumqi river basin, combined with the actualhydrological and meteorological data, using the sanshui xin an river model, which has thestructure of the melting snow, to simulate the mountain flood runoff of Urumqi river basin.Using the output of Xin an river model as the input of WRMM model, and use WRMMmodel for the reasonable allocation of water resources in the plain area of Urumqi river basin,initially realized the loose coupling of this two model. Through the analysis of the modelresult, the simulation results can be considered reasonable.The coupling of this two models can provides guidance for other models, and it is alsothe developing direction of the hydrological models. Therefore, this research has a strongscientific significance.
