With the development of the benzene production and the emphasis on safety inrecent years, it is necessary to carry out fire explosion risk analysis and assessment ofbenzene production. In this paper, the risk analysis and assessment technique havebeen summarized. Then, the process of the benzene production were described. Andthe fire and explosion risk of raw materials, main production equipments andprocesses for benzene production were identified and analysed. There were many units that had fire and explosion risk during benzeneproduction, therefore, qualitative and quantitative assessment methods were applied toidentify and to analyze the main fire and explosion risk in benzene production, then toreview main kinds of fire and explosion in benzene production. Fault tree analysis(FTA) method have been used to analyze the reason of various type fire explosionaccidents. The crucial reason for fire explosion accident has been determined throughcalculating the structural importance of every basic reason incident, which is the basisof precautionary measures.Besides, fire explosion accident cause of benzene production were discussedwith the method of PHA, and emergency risk reducing measure were put forward.DOW’s index fire explosion hazard were used to conduct fire explosion riskassessment for the four process units,i.e. Ammonia washing tower, Benzene washingtower, Tower for removing benzene and benzene tank, so the fire explosion hazardgrade of each unit were determined.Focusing on the two kinds of calamity accident that were pool fire, vapourexplosion at benzene, simulation assessment technique were used to establishmathematics model, which identified the scope of human injuries and property loss, and recommend the protective measures.
