University Library Cultural Influence On Students' Creative Thinking

Innovation is the soul of human progress and human’s unique personality, also is thesource power that maintain a country’s prosperity. The University Library has a wealth ofinformation resources and profound academic atmosphere, which is an important mechanismto stimulate the enthusiasm of innovation, quench innovative thinking, and shape theinnovative personality. Innovative thinking is one of the most important ways of thinking inthe study of thinking science; its formation needs many conditions’ support. The universitylibrary provides the conditions for the cultivation of innovative thinking, so strengthening theconstruction of library culture can make the students’ innovative potential better played.Take the scientists got the Inspired in cultural activities, and then were successful as theexamples. The paper is aim to analysis the positive role in the cultivation of students’ creativethinking detailed, from literature service, the information retrieval service, academicexchanges, seminars and competitions. The culture activities of university library have thecrucial importance in the cultivating of students’ innovative thinking. Through the empiricalanalysis, the paper study the impact of University Library’s cultural activities onstudents’ innovative thinking: take Taiyuan University of Science and Technology in ShanxiProvince as an example, issued450questionnaires to investigate if the library culture affectsthe formation of students’ creative thinking. The results of survey showed that: students’thinking habits, knowledge sensitivity, and innovation consciousness have been conducivechange, that are good at sharpening creative thinking, after participate in the library’sculture activities. We can see that through strengthening the cultivation of the library cultureconstruction, it has the positive significance for College Students’ creative thinking. Finally,the author gives some suggestions that how to strengthen the cultural construction ofuniversity library: view the students as the main part of library culture is important;improving the level and quality of library’s academic exchange activities; explore variousforms of academic exchange activities actively; explore and develop the new ways ofreading literature actively; develop more effective information resources retrieval toolsactively; strengthen the construction of University Digital Library under the networkenvironment. I hope the results of this research, which have the worth on how the universitylibrary to cultivate students’ innovative thinking.
