In the modern society, media becomes the main tool of people for learning the outside world. Under the background of economic globalization, fashion magazine rises and develops with the development of society, improvement of people’s consumption level and change of people’s consumption concept. Influenced by consumption culture, fashion magazine has sprung up and become the main force leading fashion and spreading consumer culture.Founded in Xi’an, Lady Friend serves as the representative of China’s native women’s fashion magazines and bears the imprint of consumption culture. In its articles, a lot of space is occupied by body-related topics, such as weight loss and beauty treatment. In name of beauty, it introduces fashionable consumption products by disseminating fashionable concepts and promoting fashionable lifestyles, and takes stars as the protagonist to show fashionable ways of life. In the form of the magazine, its cover design, column setting, article title, exquisite pictures and rich ads also reveal and promote the attraction of consumption culture to its readers. The images of women shown in Lady Friend are glamorous stars, enterprising office ladies or open-minded literary youth. Although their personalities and status are different, they appear in front of readers as the representatives of worshippers of consumption culture.Women’s fashion magazines represented by Lady Friend bear inextricable relation to consumption culture. Interdependent and interactional, fashion magazine disseminates and guides consumption culture and consumption culture promotes the development of fashion magazine in turn. While the consumer culture is like a double-edged sword, which promotes the change of consumption concept, bring fresh fashion for the reader’s experience, and it could make people blind pursuit of material, appear vulgar consumption and irrational consumption tendency.
