High-performance CNC system proposed much higher requirement to the real-timetransmission and synchronized motion control among three axes. Open CNC system, in whichfieldbus techniques play an important role, is a main direction of numerical control system. Inthis paper, the digital high-speed data transmission between the motion controller and theposition servo devices through combining SERCOS bus for CNC and DSP embeddedtechniques. After a brief commentary of the development trend of open CNC system and theapplication of fieldbus techniques, considering the requirements of transmission rate andsynchronization performance between the motion controller and the servo controllers, amachining tool’s control structure based on SERCOS optical fiber bus was proposed: themotion controller as the master station and the feed servo devices as the slave stationcomposed master-slave optical fiber ring network.Make futher research of the SERCOS bus protocol, the feature and application ofinterface controller SERCON816. Then focus on the factors affecting bus transmission rate.Select DSP TMS320C6713as the core to design the communication interface circuit ofmaster station and program its software which contained the device drivers and theinitialization operation. Meanwhile, design the communication interface circuits of slavestation around DSP TMS320F2812. Its software contained device drivers and the responseoperation. In this paper, because of solving the problem of the optical distortion at the high ratethrough analyzing the distortion, modifying hardware to reduce the intensity of light,SERCOS bus operated up to16M bit/s. In the laboratory, establish the SERCOS platform tosimulate the communication of three-axis control, which indicated that this platform could runnormally in16M bit/s rate. Finally, on the master-slave communication system established in the laboratory, the SERCOS optical fiber bus succeeded in running at16M bit/s in simulativethree-axis control system.
