Following the rapid development of Information technology, many universities have been building their campus network systems and implementing lots of new network-based applications gradually. By taking use of current technologies in computer, network and communication, the universities can manage the routine teaching process, researches and services in a formal scientific mode, which greatly promote the quality of campus management and services. As a result, various information systems in each college are well developed. Therefore, effective data are available for management departments in colleges to provide more scientific decisions.After full investigating on the campus smart card systems of several universities, the author is involved in the campus smart card system development in a university in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. In the thesis, the author mainly focuses on some common problems lies in the developing process, and then raises some solutions after detail analysis. The thesis has taken this university in Changzhou Jiangsu as a project carrier, applied the requirements analysis on many aspects as system function, services, sub-applications and safety et al. Especially, the thesis has designed the system framework, smart card, network and the secret key in the system, also introduced the related design principles and ideas. Furthermore, the thesis has also devoted the subsystems such as consumption, banking, teaching affairs management, identification and controlling.The main tasks of the thesis include:1. Currying out full analysis on requirement of functions, applications, technology and safety, then raise the development goal that fit to the current status of the university.2. Designing the whole framework of the system based on performance and function analysis of the campus smart card in the university. 3. Selecting the proper smart CPU card (with highly safety, flexibility and extendibility) in the system with considering the situation of the university, moreover, the performance and functions of the selected card are introduced.4. Building a tri-level structure for the system:the first level is the data center, the second one is a multiple service sub-system and the third level is consisted of every application sub-systems.5. Designing the subsystems including consumption, banking, teaching affairs management, identifying and controlling subsystems.
