Along with the increase of infomaion processing and width multimedia technology progress, people needs more and more high-definition video. The implementation of high performance H.264/AVC video coding chip which use SoC(Systerm on a Chip) technology is becoming a hot topic. Because of the complex encoding algorithm which has large computation complexity, how to validate the function of H.264/AVC video coding chip and evaluate its coding performance has been already become important research topics.Therefore, based on a high performance H.264/AVC video coding SoC chip (simplified as H.264/AVC video coding chip), this thesis introduces the H.264/AVC video coding standard, the SoC verification technology and FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) prototype verification technology first, then designs a FPGA prototype verification platform for the chip, thirdly, summarizes the key verification technology of the platform, finally, validates the function of vedio coding and evaluate coding performance of the chip.Based on the actual product development process as the background, the research results of this thesis can be used directly to the verification of H.264/AVC video coding chip.The results also have high reference value and practical value for the verification of similar SoC chips, especially the video SoC chips.
