He thinks consumptivethirst complicated with impotence can be treated by therapy with syndromedifferentiation as asthenia and sthenia. He puts forward the main pathogenesisas liver damp-heat and deficiency of the kidney-yang. Consumptive thirst’s mainpathogenesis is the dysfunction of the spleen in transport. So, at this base,the spleen loses the dysfunction in transport, produces the phlegm-dampness,makes interior fullness and heat, produces damp-heat, flows to the Liver Meridian.Then the liver is not freely distributing, all meridians can not aggregate, andimpotence occurs. Consumptive thirst for a long time, spleen loses itstransporting function, qi and blood can’t metaplasis and is so insufficientthat can’t make all meridians be nourished. Because of the deficiency of qiand blood and the deficiency of Yin-essence, the kidney fire is going to failure, then impotence occurs. Therefore, diabetes combined with impotence can betreated on syndrome differentiation through asthenia and sthenia, such asdampness-heat of the liver and deficiency of the kidney-yang. Sthenia syndromemakes positive qi stagnated, and then the blood stasis. Asthenia syndrome makesqi deficient that can’t promote the blood supplying. So the blood stasis runsthrough diabetes combined with impotence. Hereby, methods such as removingdamp-heat of the liver or warming kidney and enhancing yang combined withreplenishing qi to invigorate the spleen and activating the blood and dissolvingthe stasis are always used in the treatment of this disease, and good effectshave been got in clinic.
