Objective To discuss the possible existence of aesthetic differences on subjects’11and12suffer from gingivitis and periodontitis after initial postoperative therapy gingiva with normal gingiva, to quantify the aesthetic parameters of maxillary incisors gingiva, and to provide aesthetic guidance for the repair and reconstruction of the shape and contour of the gingiva.Methods180cases in Dental were collected in the Third Xiangyang Hospital of Central South University, include:maxillary incisors gingivitis patients, periodontitis patients, gingival healthy patients three groups, each group had60cases. All gingivitis and periodontitis subjects were received periodontitis initial therapy. After inflammation was subsided, gingival health was evaluated clinically; information of gingival color was obtained from photographs of the gingiva around the maxillary incisors, measured by adobe photoshop software and expressed in the CIE L*a*b*color system. Then it was measured with visual observation that11and12gingival zenith position, Width of attached gingiva and the height of the gingival papilla. Results (1)When comparing the GZP of11between postoperative gingivitis group, postoperative periodontitis group and healthy gingiva group we found significant differences (P<0.05). The GZP of12between healthy gingival group and postoperative periodontitis group have a significant difference (P<0.05).(2) The attached gingiva width of11and12among the three groups pairwise comparison have no significant difference (P>0.05).(3) Mesial papilla height of maxillary central incisor between the healthy gingiva group and postoperative periodontitis groups have significant difference (P<0.05); distal gingival papilla have no significant difference in height between the three groups (P>0.05).(4) Attached gingiva and the free gingiva’ L*value comparison between the healthy gingiva group and postoperative periodontitis group have significant difference (P<0.05); free gingiva’L*values comparison, the postoperative gingivitis and periodontitis group have significant difference(P<0.05);among the three groups, free gingiva’a*value and b*value pairwise comparison respectively, have no significant difference(P>0.05). When comparing gingival papilla L*a*b*values between healthy gingiva group and postoperative periodontitis group, we found significant differences (P<0.05).Conclusions (1) Gingivitis can cause gingival morphology and color change, initial therapy postoperative, the GZP has changed with normal gingiva. Inflammatory stimulation cause minimal impact on width of attached gingiva and the height of the gingival papilla. Initial therapy can basically cure the gingival color returned to normal (2) Periodontitis will result in the withdrawal of the gingival papilla and have a negative impact on the GZP, impact the color of gingival. After basic treatment the color of gingival’s L*a*b*values lower than normal, show the darker colour than normal, and show stronger colour of green and blue.
