| Objective: The paper, based on the theories of “preventive treatment of diseaseâ€,“doctrine offive evolutive phases and six climatic factors†in traditional Chinese medicine, observes thesymptoms, signs, attack frequencies, the C-ACT scores, and changes of the EOS accounts ofchildren asthma with the application of “cough and gasp plaster†with traditional Chinesemedicine decoction, so as to summarize its clinical effects and characteristics and to provideclinical evidence for the enrichment and improvement of “preventive treatment of diseaseâ€theory in traditional Chinese medicine.Methods:72patients with pediatric asthma are randomly divided into two groups: controlgroup and treatment group,36in each group. The control group should be offered dialecticaltreatment of Chinese medicine in acute period, by taking decoction of herbal medicine orallyand western medicine if necessary. In remission, the control group should be treated withdecoction of herbal medicine. In addition to the above foundation treatment, all patients intreatment group receive “cough and gasp plaster†therapy on acupoints each year during thecanicular days, once every10days since the beginning, a total of three times; and each yearduring shujiu (nine periods with nine days for each), applied once each period for3times.The plasters shall be applied on feishu, xinshu, geshu, danzhong for8-12hours at a time (peeloff in advance if one has obvious pains, pruritus or blistering). And acupoints applied shall beadded or subtracted in accordance with patients’ actual condition: if one has profuse phlegm, poor appetite, add pishu; add fenglong if one only has profuse phlegm.Laboratory indexes such as syndrome integral scores, pediatric asthma control test (c-act) score, EOS (eosinophil count) and attack frequency of the above two groups shall beobserved and recorded before and after treatment.Result:â‘ After the two years therapy program, both treatments are proved effective in curingasthma. The total effective rate of treatment group was88.9%, while that of the control groupwas69%, both of which are statistically significant (p <0.05).â‘¡there were obvious differences (p <0.05) between the two groups in improving thesymptoms and signs of the disease such as asthma, cough, and breathe sounds. Compared with control group, the treatment group got better curative effect, and the result is statisticallysignificant.â‘¢In the aspects of improving the C-ACT score, reducing the EOS count and reducingthe attack frequency of asthma, the treatment group is also better than control group, and theresult is statistically significant (p <0.05).Conclusion: Combination of “cough and gasp plaster†and traditional Chinese medicinedecoction is superior to applying the latter alone in preventing and curing the frequent attacksof pediatric asthma, improving clinical symptoms, controlling the level of inflammation andenhancing the level of life, and no side effect is found in the therapeutic process, whichillustrates the clinical effects and social benefits of the combining therapy. Therefore, theauthor suggests that the therapy should be applied in clinical treatment. |
