Biomass is an important index for the study shrub community and ecosystem and is the basis for the study of material circulation. Shrubs are dominant species in Mu Us desert and played a key role to Sand Control and improvement of the natural environment, but little research on biomass estimate models have done at the present. In this study, Artemisia ordosica, Salixpsammophila and Caragana intermedia three kinds of shrubs as research object, established the regression equation of the shrub factor (plant height, crown area, et all) and the shrub biomass. Through comprehensive analysis, contrast to determine the model coefficients (R2), F test, the total relative error (RS) and the average absolute value of relative error (RMA) and other indicators, screening out the best biomass estimation model. Through the shrub biomass estimation model, estimate the shrub biomass in different types of sand in Mu Us desert, provide the reference for the research in the area of shrub biomass. The results are as follows:(1) Three kinds of shrubs, the parts biomass and total biomass of optimal model are main to power function, exponential function equation, also includes a three order polynomial function and linear function equation, and estimates the optimal model of shrub biomass have high R2value, R2value distribution range is0.642-0.809.(2) Main shrub on fixed dunes are Artemisia ordosica and Caragana intermedia, biomass is4557.954kg/hm2,3054.379kg/hm2respectively; the main shrub on semi fixed dunes are Salix psammophila and Artemisia ordosica, biomass was6463.752kg/hm2,1809.252kg/hm2respectively; the main shrub on shifting dunes are Salix psammophila and Artemisia ordosica, biomass is2402.502kg/hm2339.654kg/hm2, respectively. (3) Three kinds of shrub root biomass in different types of dunes the size for the total biomass:semi-fixed dunes> fixed dunes> shifting dunes, were3049.590kg/hm2,2528.584kg/hm2,1038.937kg/hm2,respectively. Root biomass of them concentrated in soil layer0-10cm, Artemisia ordosica, Salix psammophila, Caragana intermedia, accounted for the total root biomass are51.88%,39.03%,25.62%, and sharply reduced with the increase of soil depth.
