Land resources are the most fundamental and important means of production and means of subsistence to human beings. Mineral resources, as necessary production resources for the economic development and social progress, don’t only bring us huge economic interests, but also generated a lot of ecological problems and social problems. With the population, resources and environment issues intensifying, sustainable development is the only way to build a resource-saving and environment-friendly society. Thus, a series of questions of the mining solution are arising imminently. As an important means to restore the land productivity, land reclamation plays an increasingly important role in the rational and efficient use of land resources.This study mainly includes following aspects:(1)Analyzing the purpose and significance of this study, and elaborating research trends, and then determining the main content, research methods and technology roadmap of this paper.(2)Expressing concepts of land reclamation and land suitability evaluation, and proposing the purposes, principles, methods and procedures of land suitability evaluation.(3)Taking the Hengbaoyuan colliery of Shanxi Province as an example. The first study describes the mine’s natural conditions, including regional conditions, topography, climate, soil, biological and hydrological conditions; Secondly, the mining of local social and economic conditions are introduced, and fully understanding the local public willing; Thirdly, land use situation investigation and analysis of such damage situation.(4)Making a first preliminary determination in the direction of land reclamation and land classification system; According to the actual situation, the mine evaluation unit is divided discharge refuse collapse and subsidence. Evaluation factor includes slope, effective soil depth, surface material composition, soil texture, and the outside world transport distance, and drainage. Reference to other information to determine the evaluation index system, making a determination in evaluation unit evaluation factor scores through the description of the nature of the evaluation unit. Using AHP to determine the weights of each.evaluation factor, and additive method to get the score of each suitability unit.Combining mining the natural, social, economic, and public willingness, determining the direction of land use evaluation unit. Discharge refuse dump reclamation is woodland, farmland reclamation is dry land, subsidence reclamation is woodland, and grassland reclamation is grassland, collapse of urban villages and industrial land reclamation for the woodland.(5)Based on the results of the land suitability evaluation, this study suggests simply land reclamation technologies and measures, including engineering and biological measures two aspects.(6) And briefly analysing economic, social and ecological benefits of land reclamation.(7)This paper summarizes the research conclusion, proposes the main problems and prospects.
