Mariela iron ore deposits locates in southern Peru metallogenic belt, the junction of the Nazca and South American plates, which is one of the newly discovered deposits in Peru by Junefield Institute of Mining of Central South University and Junefield Group. In this paper, based on a large number of geological work and combined with theoretical knowledge of the geology, geochemistry and geophysics multidisciplinary, geological conditions, geological characteristics metallogenic regularity and the direction of following prospecting work have been studied. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) Mineralization is closely related with Jurassic PUNTA Coles super unit hornblende monzonite-diorite rock mass, and locates at the preferred target of the aeromagnetic anomalies. Regional mineralization conditions are advantageous.(2)Most of the surface area of the mine are covered by the quaternary, and it is possible that the NNW trending fault developed based on the result of analysis of the known orebody and geophysical exploration which is the main ore-controlling fault. Through analyzing of the small veins of the core, it is showed that the occurrence of the mineralization fractured space maybe is west-dipping.(3)1#orebody strike is NNW and tendency is SW. It has a steep dip angle with shapes of lenses and veins. The average total iron grade is36%.Ore types mainly is actinolite(diopside)-apatite-magnetite, associated with copper mineralization. Local area has a high grade of V and is enough to reach the useful associated components grade. The harmful elements of P mainly occur in the apatite. Other useful and harmful components are all lower.(4) Geological development process is divided into diagenetic stage, Magnetite mineralization period and late hydrothermal transformation period. Mariela iron ore is similar to the porphyrite Fe deposit. Orebody is controlled by the fracture space of the rock mass and local area is rich ore.(5) Based on the multifractal theory surface magnetic anomaly were divided into low-value and medium-value anomalies that they were prospecting targets of the lenses or veins of ore body and disseminated or fine veins of ore body. High-frequency earth magnetotelluric sounding (EH-4) measurement results show that deep low-resistivity zone presumed to be fault zone of magnetite, low resistivity area is the mineralization favorable area.
