In this dissertation, the classical theory of communication which is "Medium is the message", Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Impression tube theory will be used as the analysis framework. In this dissertation will use a lot of empirical research which means sampling survey and in-depth Interview. There are two objectives to achieve in this study:On one hand, to study the usage of mobile telephone media in the college; on the other hand to study the influence to the college students. The data will be systematized and analyzed to get the final conclusion.To be specific, this study will start from basic information of the usage of mobile phone media in the college campus, then, study will focus on the usage of mobile entertainment, mobile social and mobile learning in the college students. And in the end do the needs analysis of mobile phone usage. The survey found that mobile phone owning rate is100%nowadays in campus and more than90%is Smartphone. College students no matter age and gender carry and use mobile phone very frequently. The first-use of mobile phone is showing low aging tendency. Ritualized behavior is obvious in the usage of mobile phone. And meanwhile mobile phone addiction is prevailing among college students. Highly-fragmentation, individuation and interactive are three Characteristics of the usage of mobile entertainment. Mobile social play a useful role in extending college students’social circles one side. But college students over-use mobile social lead to interpersonal communication falling into virtualization. Mobile learning not only can help college students make use of spare time but make learning whenever and wherever possible.Mobile phone will change the traditional teaching model and help to built newly-teaching model. But at the same time, college students like to use their mobile phones at school which disrupt the teaching order and bring some harmful effect to their study. In the needs analysis of mobile phone usage, we can find that safety need is the primary demand, next is Love and belonging needs, and at last is esteem need. Those three needs do mutual effect on college students’ mobile phone use behavior.Through the research, we can also find out that most of the college students over use their mobile phones frequently which are taking up all their spare time. And students spend their most of time on mobile entertainment, mobile social which are crowding out their academic learning time. Students who grown up in the mobile phone media environment are easily have mobile phone addiction. We must be alert to this phenomenon.
