In the application of modern digital signal processing, Application SpecificInstruction set Processor (ASIP) has been used successfully in many projects. Itcombines the high speed of Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and theprogrammability of common Digital Signal Processor (DSP). In the traditional designprocess of ASIP, its hardware structure is relatively fixed, resource utilization is lowerand application areas are more limited. To overcome these disadvantages, in this paper,we propose a parameterized design method and design an automatic design platform.The main contributions and results of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the design of parameterized design tool of ASIP based on ReducedInstruction Set Computer (RISC) was introduced. It includes the design of user interfaceand the main part, the implementing of parameterization. The parameterized design toolcan generate the best ASIP core, according to the parameters users set.Secondly, the design of retargetable assembler for parameterized ASIP wasintroduced. It includes the design of assembler function and user interface. Using thisretargetable assembler, an assembly program can be translated into different binarymachine code, according to the parameters users set. This retargetable assembler canalso inform errors in the process of translating.Thirdly, on the basis of the retargetable assembler, the design of C compiler forRISC structure ASIP based on GCC compiler was introduced.
