Design And Implementation Of SNMP AGENT In The Network Management

Computer network has become a kind of indispensable support for the work andlife. A variety of network equipments and software resources in the network can bemonitored and controlled effectively by a good network management system, whichcan meet the requirements on safety, reliability and operation efficiency. TheSNMP protocol is put forward in order to simplify the device management and dataacquisition in the network. The main goal of this thesis is to complete the design andimplementation of the SNMP AGENT for the network management.The basic concept of network management, network management function and thestructure of network management system are introduced while the SNMP protocol, thecomposition and management model of SNMP are analyzed in this thesis. The SNMPAGENT design for the network management system is also completed in this thesis,including design process, design of module structure, user interface, operation andmanagement, data structure, error processing and so on. According to the functiondemand, MIB is developed. Based on this MIB, framework code is generated andextended, and the SNMP AGENT function is programmed and implemented. The resultof the functional test and regression test shows that the desired goals can be achievedand the functional requirements can be satisfied in the SNMP AGENT module which isprogrammed and implemented. Then, SNMP AGENT module is applied in thecommunication engineering system practically.
