Development Of Smart Home System Based On Power Line Communication Technology

Along with the development of information technology and the improvement of people’s living standard, the smart home’s market foreground is inviting. This paper departure from the situation of family power line and household equipment layout, use power line communication (PLC) technology as the foundation, put forward a set of the tertiary structure of smart home system solutions, which consist by PLC Gateway, centralized controller and PLC node those three modules. The system can obtain house’s sensor data such as temperature humidity, deal lights or relay control command and so on. User also can be through Internet remote access home network by PLC Gateway.The protocol design of power line communication is the research emphasis of this paper. Combined with the carrier chip MI200E’s characteristic, proposed a power line MAC access protocol that combines the CSMA/CA protocol and802.lie’s time slot back off mechanism, which improves the utilization rate of the power line channel. In order to reduce the effect of the power line network’s terrible communication environment, we put forward an improved backup routing protocol of AODV——AODV-IB, which modified the Hello message. Each node with the AODV-IB can maintain primary routing and backup routing at the same time. Once the primary link breaks, it can be quickly recovered by using the backup routing. For the performance evaluation of the AODV-IB, a test-bed based on PLC network is set up. Protocols of AODV-IB, AODV, AODV-BR, AODV-ABL and IBR-AODV have been tested. Experimental results show that AODV-IB is vastly superior to other four protocols in the aspects of reducing the delay and improving the packet delivery ratio. AODV-IB is more suitable for the PLC network. Meanwhile, this paper also introduced the work of PLC node how to constitute a network, how the WEB server set up.
