The Study On Embedded Video Surveillance Server

With the rapid development of the electronic and microelectronic technology, a growing number of embedded devices have appeared in various areas of social life. The continuous improvement of the hardware performance of embedded devices and the development of software technology as well as the expansion of network coverage and reduction of construction costs make the applications based on electronic equipment are no longer limited only to text, image and audio content. Network and video have become an indispensable part of modern life. As a result, multifunctional electronic products with high performance have been invented. Video technology, as an indispensable driving force for social development, has been widely used in such areas as distance education, telemedicine, video conferencing, online broadcasting, video telephone and aerospace industry etc. Combined with the video technology, embedded video server is capable of providing real-time video services to application terminals, at lower cost and with more functions.This paper is focused on the study of key technologies in embedded video server. It analyzes the technology development situation and significance of the study. It introduces the hardware development platform, embedded Linux development environment, Audio/Video codec method such as AAC, Mp3and H.264, and RTSP/RTP/RTCP network protocols. In the later chapters, it presents in detail the architectures of embedded video surveillance server system and some critical aspects of the design including interaction protocols, acquisition, packaging and transmission of audio and video data, video coding and compression, regular recording, the design and realization of audio/video playing components for network clients.The last chapter gives a summary of the study of embedded video surveillance server and some suggestions for the future work.
