This paper based on the Shandong province major projects "low cost, low consumption and high reliable embedded terminal and information service platform"; this major project plans to construct a demonstration project for a brand new kind of community information system.The16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward "We will improve self-governance among urban residents build new-type well-managed communities featuring civilityharmony". So promoting a new system for community information is not only the way to improve our social development and the quality of services for the people’s need, but also the necessary measures to improve people’s livelihood in the "The Eleventh Five-Year" period.At present, the most of the community residents’economic strength is limited, many residents’families still don’t have a computer and network; at the same time, for the effectiveness and the realtimeness of community information website information is not very well, people could not get really useful informations. Therefore, building a new community information system; providing a low cost, high reliability, easy to maintain information terminal; making a kind of the users’information customization, automatic delivery information model is of great significance to promote our community information construction.This paper provides the realization method of a new community information system construction for the community problems in the informatization constructions; using "cloud computing" and embedded technology, to change the traditional information model that using PC as the online terminal. We use the "thin client+broadband network+server "as the system architecture of new information mode, including embedded terminal system development, information service platform building and high reliable server cluster technology R&D three main research content. This thesis mainly complete embedded terminal system development.Use the terminal system designed by this paper, users can easily login information service platform; browse, upload and download life and production information needed. The terminal based on single core, low cost, low consumption and embedded ARM chips and independent customization of open source embedded Linux operating system. Terminal system hardware uses the core control board+display transfer board+interface expand floor design solutions, makes it convenient for the system’s further expansion and upgrade. According to the needs of the users, terminal system use USB mouse and keyboard as the input method; use the19inch LCD monitor as the output equipment with1024*768display resolution, and is able to provide users a good visual effect.The terminal system software design includes building system development and the upper machine commissioning environment, U-boot transplantation, Linux kernel customized development, the file system production, EMD desktop system design, Button_to_Restore system design, etc. EMD desktop system contains the application softwares that applicable to the community information system, such as the browser based on QtWebkit kernel, streaming media function design, Chinese input method design, network connection software, audio software, video player software, etc. And terminal system designs a Button_to_Restore subsystem; it makes user’s using and maintenance more convenient and improves the reliability of the terminal.
