Background:Hypertension is a highly prevalent chronic disease nowadays. It is a main cause of heart failure, kidney failure, stroke or even abrupt death, threatening people’s health and lives. The etiology and pathogenesis of hypertension are very complex. Differences in natural gifts, improper diet, emotional disorders, excessive work and rest, tobacco and alcohol addiction, decrepitude are all contributory factors to hypertension. By combing the theory with research on hypertension, not only will the advantages of The Five-Pattern Personality be diffused but also knowledge of etiology of hypertension, individualized prevention and diagnosis will be promoted.Objective:This research based on The Five-Pattern Diagnosis Theory exploring both community hypertension personality and lifestyle traits; analyzing relationship between The Five-Pattern Personality and lifestyle; discussing the lifestyle of community hypertension patients who with typical personality.Methods:A quantitative research method with questionnaire survey was adopted. This study randomly collected400hypertension cases in three community health services centers locates at Haidian, Chaoyang and Xicheng district. Using The Five-Pattern Personality Inventory and TCM lifestyle Questionnaire,303questionnaires of them were valid and data were analyzed to test community hypertension patients’personality, lifestyle characteristics and their relationship with SPSS17.0Results:1. The scores in taiyang, shaoyang, yinyangheping and shaoyin of hypertension patients in communities are higher than those in national norms.2. From the perspective of opposition between Yin and Yang in body, the scores of five-pattern personality in Yang are higher than those in Yin.3. The scores of the balanced diet of hypertension Patients in communities are lowest, following by apposite exercis4. The comparison of the Five-Pattern Personality between sexes suggests that, scores of shaoyang personal ity and taiyin personality in men were higher than those in women.o. The comparison of the lifestyle between sexes suggests socres of regular life and therisk avoiding in men were signi ficantly lower that those in women. The typical vulnerable personality of hypertension patientsin communities is the personality with Yang characters, that is, the Taiyang personality and Shaoyang personality; the lifestyles of most patients are relatively ideal, however, the balance of diet and the frequency of exercise are worth noting. The male patients should keep regularity in work and rest, reduce unnecessary social intercourse and have regular diet. They also should pay attention to prevention of disease and keep optimistic attitude. The patients with Yang characters should have improvement in life habit such as balanced diet, desire-free and optimism. |
