Public health management is a social problem, mainly related to the health adm inistrative institutions, catering industry self-discipline, and consumer’s sensible scie nce etc..If we want to improve public health, simply reling on the daily supervision i s far from enough. Urging merchants compling with hygiene rules, and developing c onsumer’s food safety consciousness, are all required to be accomplished for the adv ance of public health.The public health enterprise of Chengdu is later than that of Beijing, Guangzho u, Shanghai and other coastal cities. Due to the disordered situation in1940’s, a lot o f work is limited to the empty talk. There is not any conditions to carry out the publi c health enterprise at all. Public food hygiene, as one of the public health branches, it ’s management in1940’s is chaotic, without any system. However, because the publi c health management was ralated to livelihood, the city managers did some jobs and got some achievments. In this thesis, combining with the historical background, Che ngdu’s public health management in1940’s is been investigated. Generally speaking, the public health management will be elaborated from six aspects:In Part One, the thesis will give the introduction, the background, the meaning of issues, the academic trends, the framework, the main contents, and the research m ethods. Based on these contents, a prospect of this issues has been analyzed. In Part Two, the thesis introduces the oringin of chinese traditional diet health concept&m anagement, and modern public health management. In Part Three, the thesis introdu ces the public mangament to dietetic hygiene situation in Chengdu before and during in1940’s. In this part, the public health management organizations situations of Che ngdu in1940’s is also been presented. In Part Four, the thesis investigates the City H ealth Office and the Trade Association for public health management, and the efforts done by these agencies. In Part Five, the thesis introduces the the achievements and shortcomings made by the city punish public diet health of Chengdu during1940’s. I n Part Six, a summary and a refinement for this thesis is given, and an outlook for th e topic is presented to our modern society.
