1BackgroundCough Variant Asthma(CVA) is known as a special type of asthma,the main or the only clinical manifestations is Cough,which usually lasts one month or more. Clinical manifestations are dry cough, choking, less sputum or phlegm,pharyngeal itching, even chest tightness,hyperpnoen, ect.This disease has intractable, chronic and recurrence character.lt is often induced by fume,exercise,cold air,allergens or upper respiratory tract infections, and so on.There is no infection symptoms clinicaly.It occurs primarily in infant which has family history of allergies. Most cough variant asthma attacks in spring and autumn.Regarding the treatment of bronchiectasis and glucocorticoid mainly in western glucocorticoid-based agents.Writing in the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),there is no cough variant asthma and fully corresponds to the disease, from the occurrence of the disease,the development of clinical symptoms shown by the characteristics of analysis,many doctors belong mostly to "cough","Longgoing cough","heart cough"and other aspects of different diseases.Chinese medicine treatment uses syndrome differentiation theory,the overall treatment with well efficacy,side effects and other advantages,can significantly improve symptoms in patients with CVA.This research, including literature study and clinical study,discusses the classification,etiology,and methodology of treatments of CVA from TCM and western medicine perspectives.2Literature studyThe literature study divided into three major studies.the fist aspect of modern Chinese medicine is the cough variant asthma in children’s literature review of research progress;the second subject is mainly on western awareness of the disease and research progress;the third one is a summary of the experimental research and treatment on CVA in the way of intergrated traditional Chinese and western medicine.3Clinical researchObjective:to observe and evaluate the cilnical efficacy of treating children Cough Variant Asthma(which belongs to Wind Invading Lung type in TCM) with Qufeng Huoxue method.Methods:40diagnosed CVA patients(which belongs to Wind Invading Lung type in TCM) were treated with Qufeng Huoxue method.All the patients were from pediatrics department clinic of BUCM Dongzhimen Hospital.The treatment lasts4weeks.The related items were measured before and after the treatment to observe the cilnical efficacy of treating children Cough Variant Asthma with Qufeng Huoxue method.Results:Qufeng Huoxue method can significantly improve the frequency of cough, pharyngeal itching and other symptoms.The efficient rate was97.5%,The difference between before and after treatment was statistical significance(0.01).Conclusions:Qufeng Huoxue method is an effective medicament of treating children with CVA of Wind Invading Lung type in TCM.It can alleviate the clinical symptoms and prenvent it from transforming to asthma.
