Object:On the basis of the research and utilization of the movement of defensive qi and nutrient qi from the masterpiece Shang Han Lun, the paper provides a more comprehensive and profound knowledge of Ying and Wei from the perspective of six channels theory. In addition, from the perspective of defensive qi and nutrient qi, the paper provide an access to the understanding of the treatment of supporting the healthy qi and repressing the pathogens by the discussion and research on the conflict between the healthy qi and the pathogen qi.Methods:Starting from the theory of defensive qi and nutrient qi of HuangDi NeiJing from which the academic study of Zhang Zhong Jing origins and based on the Physiological performance and Pathological manifestations of defensive qi and nutrient qi, the paper makes a generalization of the utilization of Zhang Zhong Jin’s understanding of defensive qi and nutrient qi by analyzing and summarizing them and tries to apply this generalization to clinical medicine. Conclusion:Originating from food, the nutrient qi works inside the vein while the defensive qi outside. The nutrient qi and the defensive qi circle around the body for fifty times a whole day as if there exists no starting point. The nutrient qi is the representation of Yin qi in the body while the defensive qi is the Yang qi running on the body surface. The nutrient qi can be the defensive qi’s backup as the nutrient qi turns into the defensive qi outside the vein. The nutrient qi and the defensive qi can represent all the symptoms of people as there must be performance on people’s appearance due to the illness inside. The nutrient qi and the defensive qi are the best representation of the theory of Yin and Yang which is the philosophical basement of Chinese medicine. The effect of any pathogen will influence the movement of the nutrient qi and the defensive qi as they are circling around the body. The healthy qi and the pathogens must be taken into consideration in treatment as supporting the healthy qi and repressing the pathogens is the major treatment in Chinese medicine, and the pathogenic qi should be compelled in the range in which the healthy qi can endure.
