Clinical Observation On The Short-term Effect Of Duhuo Jisheng Decoction On Functional Recovery After Meniscus Injury With Arthroscope

Objective Through clinical observation on the effect of Duhuo Jisheng Decoction on functional recovery after meniscus injury with arthroscope, to investigate the curative effect and mechanism of the decoction, in order to provide clinical application with the theoretical basis.Methods During the period of July of2011to February of2012,60patients were collected, in the orthopedic department of our hospital, whom underwent partial or subtotal meniscectomy with arthroscope, according to inclusion and exclusion criterion. In a prospective manner, they were randomized into a treatment group (washing with Chinese Herbs) and a control group (conventional rehabilitation group), each group had30patients respectively. All patients undertook conventional rehabilitation training after surgery. Patients in the treatment group took duhuojisheng decoction to wash their knee after removed the stitches at the2weeks after operation, while the control group didn’t. Record and compare the changes of pain degree(Visual Analogue Scale, VAS), swollen degree, joint activities range (ROM), quadriceps wasting degree and Lysholm score in2,3,6,12weeks after surgery.Record the time that patient recovered the ability of daily life. And the adverse reaction in the the therapy would be aske dindetail.Finally the datas were analysed statistically with the help of the software package of SPSS16.0.Results (1)No significant difference was found in various index sign between the two groups in2weeks after operation (P>0.5);(2)Compared with the control group, the VAS, swollen degree, quadriceps wasting degree, ROM and Lysholm score in the treatment group were all found to be significantly different in the3rd,6th week (p<0.05);(3)A11index signs were found no significant differences between the two groups in12th week (p<0.05);(4) The time of patient recovered the ability of daily life in the treatment group was earlier that in the control group (P>0.5);(5)No side-effects were found in the treatment group. Conclusions (1) External use of Duhuo Jisheng Decoction could effectively relieve the pain and arthroncus, improve range of motion and the knee function for the patients underwent partial meniscectomy.(2) Chinese herbs treatment combined with conventional exercises could shorten the recovery time.(3) Duhuo Jisheng Decoction possesses a good therapeutic effect on partial meniscectomy.With high safety coefficien and less adverse effeet, it can be popularized as a convalescent therapy.(4) External use of Duhuo Jisheng Decoction can improve the knee function with efficacy of drugs and heat, but its mechanism are obscure and require further investigation.
