Objective: Analysis the direct and indirect economic burden of echinococcosishospitalized patients into the surgery subsidies in Xinjiang18hydatid disease designatedhospitals, analysis the main influencing factors, provide health decisions for thedepartments and reduce the patients economic burden.Methods: The data ofechinococcosis patients information which covered from2008to2011were analyzed bySPSS16.0with methods of statistics description, analysis of variance, multivariatestepwise regression analysis etc.. And the indirect economic burden was employed by thehuman capital method combined with Disability Adjusted Life Year (DALY). Results: Atotal of1088echinococcosis patients in those hospitals,there were14328.75RMB perperson as direct fee-for-service, and transportation costs expenses for food, thesepayments per person were270.59RMB,503.81RMB,460.63RMB as directnon-fee-for-service. Both of them constituted the direct economic burden.On the otherhand, the result showed that the total indirect economic lost for echinococcosis were2916625.26RMB and DALY lost as an average of approximately0.17perperson.Conclusion: The method in combination of human capital with DALYs was areasonable way by using of the indirect echinococcosis economic burden in Xinjiang.Theeconomic burden of hospitalized patients was weighty, should step up publicity,raise awareness of prevention, the government should increase the subsidy amount, usinga variety of ways to reduce patient length of stay, reduce hospital costseffectively reducethe economic burden of the echinococcosis patients.
