Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of the application of the selective tissueplacement impression by individual tray in fabricating lower tooth-tissue-supportedremovable partial dentures. Methods: Twenty-five distal extension partial dentures weremade by the selective tissue placement impression method and twenty-five traditionalmodel removable partial dentures were separately made. The patients were examined withborder extension, base sea, indirect retainer movement, soreness of alveolusmucosa, masticatory efficiency, the number of appointment. Results: The number of sorespots, indirect retainer movement, appointment in the selective tissue placementimpression was less than that of traditional ones, the base seal and masticatory efficiencyin selective tissue placement impression were significantly higher than that of traditionalones(P<0.05). But the border extension was not diverse (P>0.05). Conclusions: Thenumber of sore spots, indirect retainer movement and appointment in the selective tissueplacement impression was less, the base seal and masticatory efficiency in selectivetissue placement impression were significantly higher. |
