[Objective]The objective of this paper is to observe the clinical efficacy of the open purple gold lock method of the eight and a half threapy for the treatment of the syndrome of cold coagnlation and blood stagnation type of primary dysmenorrhea, and to preliminaryly study its mechanism of action.[Methods]All of the sixty observational cases, collected in this paper, have been made the diagnosis of the syndrome of cold coagnlation and blood stagnation type of primary dysmenorrhea by the massage department and the gynecology clinic of Hubei provincial traditional Chinese medical hospital. The sixty patients are evenly divided into the treatment group and the control group by using the random number table method. Each of these two groups is compsed of exactly thirty patients. There is no significant differnece of the patients’ages, the courses of the patients’diseases, and the VAS scores of the patients’last menstrual period between these two groups by the t test (p>0.05). Each one group is comparable to the other. The open purple gold lock method of the eight and a half threapy is adopted for the treatment group. The pressing, kneading, flicking, plucking, vibrating, and rubbing method are used on the purple gold lock, which is located in the lower sides of rectus inferior segment of umbilical cord, or between the Wai Ling point and the Da Ju point of the Yang Ming stomach meridian of foot in Chinese traditional medicine terms. The threapy starts one week before the patients’menses. The threapy is performed once a day. The duration of each threapy is from fifteen to twenty minutes. The threapy stops when menses have come to the patients. In the treatment of the control group, the patients take in oral ibuprofen sustained release capsules. Three days before the menses, the patients start to take in the ibuprofen capsules one at a time twice a day, once in the morning and another at night. The patients stop to take in the capsules at the third day of the menses. Two groups are treated with continuous three courses of treatment (one menstrual cycle is one course of treatment).[Results]1、 The cure rate of the treatment group is46.7%. The cure rate of the control group is13.3%. x2test is performed, x2=7.94>3.85, p<0.05. There is significant difference of cure rates between the treatment group and the control group. The curative effect in treatment group was superior to control group.2、 After three times of treatment, the VAS scores of both groups are significantly different with the VAS scores before the treatment (p<0.05), showing that both the open purple gold lock method and the treatment of oral ibuprofen sustained release capsules are effective for the syndrome of cold coagnlation and blood stagnation type of primary dysmenorrhea. During the third menses after all the treatment have been stoped, the VAS scores of the treatment group show significant difference compared with the VAS scores before the treatment (p<0.05), while the VAS scores of the control group show no significant difference compared with the VAS scores before the treatment (p>0.05). The VAS score of the treatment group is significantly different with the control group, showing that the amelioration of the periodic pain symptoms of the syndrome of cold coagnlation and blood stagnation type of primary dysmenorrhea in the treatment group is superior to the control group.3、 During the third menses after all the treatment have been stoped, the traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores of the treatment group are siginificant superior to the scores before the treatment (p<0.05). The scores of the control group show no siginificant differnce compared with the scores before the treatment (p>0.05). The amelioration of the general symptoms of the syndrome of cold coagnlation and blood stagnation type of primary dysmenorrhea in the treatment group is superior to the control group.[Conclusions]The usage of the open purple gold lock method of the eight and a half threapy for the treatment of the syndrome of cold coagnlation and blood stagnation type of primary dysmenorrhea can significantly ameliorate the clinical symptoms of the patients. This method is simple to operate. Completely without side effects, the recurrence rate of this method is low. It is worth to promote this method in clinical practice.
