Objective:To understand the difference between preterm infants and full terminfants in social living adaptative function and its influencing factors. It isfavorable for searching effective intervention in improving the preterminfants’ physical and mental health. Methods:All of subjects are collected the Department of Primary Child HealthCare in CHCMU from July2011to March2012including93preterminfants and123full term infants who were6months、9months、12monthsof age. The self-made《Infant General Condition Questionnaire》 and《Infant-Junior Middle School Social Living Function Scale》were used inthe research, comparisons were made between preterm infants and terminfants in relation to the social living adaptive function、the rate of marginalsocial living adaptative function、 the four parts of social livingadaptative function、the influencing factors of the social living adaptivefunction. The dates were analysis with the rank sum test, chi-square test, multiple linear regression and partial correlation analysis of SPSS17.0software packages. Results:1.There are differences between the preterm infants and full terminfants on the score and the rate of marginal at6,9and12months of age (P<0.050) as estimating social living adaptive function. The rate of marginalgrade is41.9%in preterm infants and16.3%in full term infantsrespectively. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.050).2. The differences of the social living adaptative function betweenpreterm infants and full term infants at6,9and12months of age werepresented on communicative function, the operative function, thecooperative function and the independent function primarily. The scoreachieved by full term infants is higher than preterm infants significantly onall fractions of social living adaptative function except the independentfunction at9months(P>0.050)and the operative function at12months(P>0.050).3.The social living adaptative function are influenced by infants’ age, gender, gestational age, test-tube babies or not, the caregiver is mother ornot, the caregiver’s educational level, the mother’s educational level, theinfants trained the feeding skills or not, and so on. These factors was listedaccording to correlation orderly that age, the gestational age, caregiver’seducation level, the infants received feeding-skills training or not, thecaregiver is mother or not, the mother’s educational level, whether theinfants are test-tube babies or not, gender. Conclusion:1. The social living adaptative function increases gradually in preterminfants during the first year after birth although it is lower than full terminfants. Preterm infants present a catch-up on the operative function. Andthere is increasing differences comparing with full term infants on theindependent function.2. The physical signs and the family factors are relevant to the socialliving adaptative function. Infants’ age and the gestational age are the mostimportant influencing factors on the social living adaptative function.Feeding-skills training would improve the social living adaptativefunction for preterm infants.
