| Objective: To analyze the epidemiology and clinical characteristicsof senior adult cancers.Methods: To study the senior cancer case reports during the past2years in our hospital and select100cases for analyzing the clinicalcharacteristics and treatment procedure.Results: The top3highest incidence type of cancers are lung cancer,liver cancer and colorectal cancer in senior adult patients with cancer.There were56%senior adult patients received treatment of surgeryamong200cases during the past3years,32%of chemotherapy and18%of radiotherapy,44%patients were given palliative treatments only.Conclusion: Chronologic age alone does not prevent senior adultpatients form receiving treatment such as chemotherapy and care in linewith best practice. Suitability for treatment should be determined byassessment of functional status, performances status, life expectancy andexisting comorbidities. |
