| With the number of aging population grows too fast, anti-aging treatments andskin care products in personal care sector of the beauty industry are playing anincreasingly important role. Firstly, this paper, analysed the chemical composition ofthe compound aromatic Chinese herbs. Secondly, it showed the anti-aging effect withthe help of acute D-galactose model on aging mice. Finally, it explored security issuetesting skin and eye irritation on rabbits. The essential oil was extracted by stream distillation. Its components wereidentified by using GC-MS detection. The identification of components in essentialoil composition accounted for about99.96%. The main component of the essential oilincluded sabinene (12.87%), limonene (9.14%),4-terpineol (7.99%),1,8-cineole(5.93%), linalool (3.58%), α-terpineol (4.75%), γ-terpineol (2.69%), cedrol (3.49%),nerol (0.13%), and ceraniol (0.46%).The powder, which was made by the water extract of the compound aromaticChinese herbs, was analysed by the UPLC-MS. The main compounds of the watersolution were safflomin A (11.8829%), palmitic acid (16.8091%), palmitic acid ethyl ester(0.1582%), carthamidin (0.1567%). The main compounds of the methanol solution werepalmitic acid (13.8677%), imperatorin (6.1992%), palmitic acid ethyl ester (0.2684%), quercetin(0.1412%), safflomin A (0.2773%).The aging mice model were prepared by subcutaneous injection of1000mg·kg-1·d-1D-galactose in continuing42days. In the same time, the skinsegments of the mice were massaged with three different concentrations of the oil andthe water extract. Then serum and skin segments of all tested mice were utilized toanalyze the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), the content of malondialdehyde(MDA) and the content of hydroxyproline (HYP). As a result, compared with themodel group, in the serum of the essential oil groups and the water extract groups, theactivity of SOD significantly increased, while the content of MDA decreased. In theskin segments, on the other hand, the activity of SOD significantly elevated; thecontent of MDA significantly decreased; and the content of hydroxyprolinesignificantly increased. In conclusion, the essential oil and the water extract showedremarkable anti-aging effect. And the indexes were even more active and ideal thanVE thus indicating its promising prospect of future application. In the safety evaluation of the essential oils and the water extract via skin andeye irritation tests, the results showed that the three groups of essential oil (10%,15%,20%respectively) and the33.3%water extract were safe enough without any passiveeffects during the tests of acute skin irritation, chronic skin irritation and damagedskin irritation on rabbit model. It was noticeable that only the high concentrationgroup of20%essential oil had a slight stimulation on rabbit eyes. However, thisconcentration is too far higher than the actual application in reality. Therefore, thiscompound essential oil could be used as a safe and active additive in cosmetics forfuture development and application. This compound essential oil and the water extract proposes accessibleapplication in future skin care products. This paper is initiative on exploring efficacy and safety of aromatic volatiles in traditional Chinese medicine. It provides animportant theoretical basis for the further development and utilization of compoundessential oils alike. |
