Virtual reality is a capstone technology fused many advanced computer technology,applied in realization of visual, hearing and action of nature and sensors. Because of thecharacteristics of3I (immersion, interaction and imagination), virtual reality technology is akey one for military education and training. To accomplish the research mission of theprojects--Innovation Project of The Chinese Academy of Sciences (Grant No.KZCX2-YW-340), and the ‘Eleventh Five-year’ Plan of Jilin Province Educational Office(Grant No.2009[611]), especially the research requirement of "virtual reality visualization ofair combat", the paper discussed and analyzed the basic approaches, theories and methods ofair combat scene virtual-reality-simulation. Utilized the Virtual Reality Modeling Language,the paper presented and applied a "rapid prototyping" method, designed and realized thevirtual air combat scene, aircrafts, interactive functions and3D enhanced effects in the virtualscene in detail based on the construction of air combat huge scene. The paper completed asuite of effective and right air combat scene production with a good practicality. In practice,the production associated the training and education in special fields well.During the research, focused the key points of design purpose, the master degree paperpresented the analysis and designing based on the characteristics of Virtual Reality ModelingLanguage, provided a suite of methods, and published some academic paper in sino-foreignperiodicals. The author wrote a bookmaking with name of Virtual Reality Modeling LanguageTutorial, designed2Virtual-reality-products awarded general level2ndachievement.There are four creative points in the paper and production:First, provided a "Rapid Prototyping"method, simplified the code and data ofvirtual-reality-production based on Virtual Reality Modeling Language.Second, Combined with Scene Tree, described and distributed the process of designing,promoted the designing efficiency and readability of complex and huge virtual air combatscene production.Third, Focused on the property characteristics of virtual air combat scene compose,analyzed and selected the right node fields and models based on the excellence of VirtualReality Modeling Language, and the production provided reasonable fidelity. Fourth, Enhanced the functions of Virtual Reality Modeling Language further, the paperprovided a3D sound enhancing method with high-efficiency and remarkable effect.Now time, the centuries with strong air force, such as America, pay more attention to theapplication of virtual reality technology in national science technology. Especially theeducation and training US airmen, there are some many achievements and applicationexamples for us to reference. With the rapid progressive of PLA modernization, virtual realitytechnology should be the key power of enhance our military. The research of virtual realityhas been the mission of science and technology workers.As a rapid development technology, it is already a hot research field in our military. Themaster degree paper is a important part of Virtual Combat Field Simulation. With theevaluating and demonstration in practice, the production can associate the educating andtraining airmen very well. Furthermore, the production with high-efficiency andlow-requirement, save much money and human resources for education and training inmilitary.
