Aiming at the lack of geographical information in previous dispatch system, this thesis analyses and studies the realization of GIS. It mainly discusses the relevant knowledge of WebGIS, the R&D (Reseach and Development) platform and implement technolgy based on B/S(Browser/Server), which are applied in projects with regards to the emergency dispatch system of elevator faults.Firstly, this thesis describes in detail the characteristics, the development trend, architecture and implementation technology of WebGIS. With the analysis and comparison of mainstream WebGIS development platforms at home and abroad, considering their advantages and disadvantages and the actual needs of the project, ArcIMS is finally selected as the secondary development platform of the WebGIS project. Then, this thesis analyses the architecture of ArcIMS and working principle of its components and detailedly introduces the core language-ArcXML used to communicate between the components of ArcIMS. Finally, according to the requirements of emergency dispatch system, this thesis gives out a solution for WebGIS module, proposes the overall three-tier architecture based on B/S, makes a choice for client and connector, analyses the data management of the system and gives out the construction scheme of the database program.In this thesis, the module of WebGIS in the emergency dispatch system of elevator faults is implemented by taking ArcIMS as the platform, combinating spatial database engine ArcSDE with SQL Server2005 database and applying HTML, java script and other web development technologies as well. At last, it gives out the operation situation of the system, systematically realizing some specific functions, such as the query of geographic information, display of elevator faults, the query of peripheral information, analysis on buffer and so on. The tests illustrate the availability of this implementation method.
