Objective:To investigate dietary patterns, nutritional status and nutrition-related diseases of the old people in Liuzhou city and provide basic information for rational diet and prevention of chronic diseases for community old people in Liuzhou city.Methods During April to June of 2011,1000 old people were retrieved from Louzhou city randomly. We investigated the food and nutrient intake by Food frequency method and 24-hour dietary recall method. Then,498 subjects were surveyed chronic diseases status.Results:Compared with data of nutrition survey of Guangxi province in 2002, daily consumption of grains, dark vegetables and milk increased 3.8%,13.5% and 17.5%. And the consumption of pickles, meat, vegetable oil and alcohol decreased 87.4%,59.8%, 54.7% and 58.1% separately. Mean energy intake was 1685.7 kcal and the main source of it was grains which account for 55.2%, animal foods account for 20.7%. fats account for 10.8%, all lower than mean levels of Guangxi province in 2002. Data of health investigation showed that malnutrition rate of old people was 15.1%, obesity rate was 2.6%, overweight rate was 16.6%, impaired fasting glucose rate was 4.0%, diabetes rate was 7.0%, coronary heart disease rate was 1.4%, hypercholesterolemia rate was 29.1% and hypertriglyceridemia rate was 26.1%.Conclusion Prevalence of chronic diseases of old people in Liuzhou city was lower. Consumptions of energy, oil and alcohol were lower and the dietary pattern was beneficial to prevention of chronic diseases.
