Study On Association Of Borna Disease Virus Infection With Encephalitis And Schizophrenia

Objective The objective is to study the infection of Borna disease virus (BDV) with viral encephalitis paients and schizophrenia paients in parts of Guizhou province (Zunyi,Bijie,Tongren) and to study the clinical features and the correlation of the dieases and BDV.Methods p24 fragment of BDV fragments of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from 62 patients with viral encephalitis (VE),30 patients with Schizophrenia (SCH),100 healthy donors were examined by quantitative fluorescence nested reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Then Gene sequence and amino acid sequence were analyzed for positive products.Results The positive rate of BDV p24 fragment in PBMC from the patients withVE was 6.5%, the positive rate of BDV p24 fragment in PBMC from the patients with SCH was 6.7%,then the healthy donors were tested negative.Compared with the the healthy donors,the positive rate of BDV p24 fragment in PBMC from the patients with VE was significantly higher than that in healthy donors (p=0.04<0.05).However, Compared with the the healthy donors,the positive rate of BDV p24 fragment in PBMC from the patients with SCH have not statistical difference (p=0.079> 0.05%), The sequence of the BDV p24 fragment from the patients with VE keep the same with that of the patients with SCH The mutation of the sequence from the BDV p24 fragment of the patients with VE and SCH was 3% when compared with the stain V. The mutation of the sequence of the BDV p24 was 3% when compared with the C6BV. Compared with the H1766,the mutation of the sequence was 2%.and compared with He80/FR, the mutation of the sequence was 3%,at all, it kept the closest ralationship with the 1766 strains. The patients with VE and the patients with SCH have similarty in clinical features.Conclusion The patients with VE in parts of Guizhou province may be associated with BDV infection. We find that 2 cases were detected BDV P24 from the 30 parents with SCH, borna virus infection may be associated with schizophrenia.But the positive rate was no significant difference compared with the healthy donors.It may be that the samples were less and the areas were more limiteded.
