Objective To investigate the correlation between BDV infection and viralencephalitis.Methods P24 fragment of BDV fragments from in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 34 patients with abnormal mental symptoms of viral encephalitis,40 healthy persons and 120 cattle were examined by quantitative fluorescence nested reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Gene sequence and amino acid sequence were analyzed for positive products. Summarize in parts of Guizhou Province and surrounding features of Borna virus epidemic.Results The positive rate of BDV p24 fragment in PBMC from VE was 14.71%, were significantly higher than in healthy donors(P=0.017<0.05).The positive rate of BDV p24 fragment in PBMC from cattle was 4.17%. The sequence of the BDV p24 fragment from the patients with VE presented that 3 situs consistency silent nutation when compared with stain V and its homogeneity was 96.51%(nt1650 T-C, nt1671C-T, nt1674 C-T),2 situs consistency silent mutation compared with H1766 and its homogeneity was 97.67%, (nt1675 C-T, nt1678 T-C),3 situs consistency silent mutation when compared with C6BV and its homogeneity was 96.51%(nt1659 T-C, nt1668 A-G, nt1671 C-T), Sequence of the BDV p24 fragment from the cattle was present 2 situs consistency silent mutation when compared with Bo/04W and huP2br and its homogeneity was 97.671%(nt1675C-T, nt1678T-C),3 situs consistency silent mutation when compared with Strain V and its homogeneity was 96.51%(nt1650 T-C, nt1671 C-T, nt1674 C-T),2 situs consistency silent mutation when compared with H1766 and its homogeneity was 97.67%(nt1675 C-T, nt1678 T-C),2 situs consistency silent mutation when compared with He80/FR and its homogeneity was 96.51%(nt 1660 T-C, nt 1669 A-G, nt 1672C-T). However, there were no changes of encoding amino acids in all BDV p24 fragment from neuropsychiatric disorders.Conclusions The patients with abnormal mental symptoms of viral encephalitis in Zunyi City of Guizhou Province may be associated with BDV infection. It is suggested that BDV infection may be existed in cattle of Guizhou Province and surrounding areas.
