Objective: To investigate the knowledge and awareness on mental health among middle-school students in Wuhan , and in order to provide information for policy-making and strategy.Methods: According to the message of investigation, using stratified cluster randomization method, 1237 students from 24 classes (4 middle schools) were internalized in the mental health knowledge questionnaire.Results: One thousand two hundred and thirty-seven students (from 1286 students) completed the questionnaires.The correct rates for mental health knowledge items were high (51.3%~98.9%) , but the rates for commemoration days were relatively low (9.0%~11.6%). The mean value for this questionnaire was 13.64±2.18. Single regression analysis showed that gender, age, mother education year, school level and family location was significantly associated with score of questionnaire .Taking the significant factor in single regression analysis into the multiple factor model and carrying out regression analysis, female ,the inhabitant who lived in the city , the middle school which was intensive and the old people invested got higher score. Conclusion: The knowledge of mental health in young people was raising. Most of the aims in《Chinese Mental Health Plans (2002~2010)》were completed among middle-school students in Wuhan district. There is a need to strengthen the education in mental health commemoration days.To strengthen and educate the mental health knowledge,the relatived govement should carry out efficient stratediess.Launching the mental health service is the long-term goal and task for mental health workers.
