In today's highly competitive health care market environment , how hospitals win a place will be a new major hospitals proposition. Wuhan the First Hospital's rapidly developement has made some social and economic benefits in recent years,and has achieved the advanced level of the municipal hospital, but compared with the big general hospital (such as Tongji, Union Hospital, etc.), it's also at a competitive disadvantage position. The quality of medical services, human resources systems and other aspects of hospital culture has yet to be improved for that hospital, and it should carry out further research to guide the strategic management of the hospital for further development.Under the background of the history and culture of the First Hospital of Wuhan and the current status of the medical industry , and with the modern enterprise strategic management theory as a guide, through the hospital site visits, and review of literature, by using the environmental analysis theory, the theory of competitive strategy and the SWOT analysis methods, combined with the actual situation of the First Hospital of Wuhan, this thesis analyzed the impact of the macro external environment and changes, obtained the result of the currently opportunities and threats which the hospital is facing now, and by analyzing the hospital's own strengths, weaknesses, and the hospital's internal competition, extracted the SO, WO and other development strategies. At the same time, through evaluating and analyzing a variety of strategies, reach the conclusion of the appropriate development of the hospital's strategic plan, that is people-oriented, specialty department to the hospital-wide scale development of the strategy.
