With the deepening of the medical system reform of our country, the hospital, which was pure welfare public institution in the past, now is pushing to market gradually, and the hospital is facing more complicated and more changeable environment in economy, society, politics, science and technology, laws and even ethics. The hospital survives and develops on the basis of an overall and conscious understanding to its own advantages, inferior positions, opportunities and challenges faced, meanwhile, has to use the concepts of strategic management to manage itself. However, much research indicates that present medical organizations have paid less attention to strategic management, or even not having it at all for a long time. The thesis selects the No.2 People's Hospital of Lanzhou as the research object of strategic management, which is a non-profit-making general hospital belonging to second-class in the third category, and is representative among medical system reform. Thus it has undoubtedly important realistic meaning to find and solve the problems, such as how does the medical service organization develop continuously in the complicated and changeable environment, etc. in the process of medical system reform.The thesis tries to use SWOT Matrix in a comparatively thorough analysis of chances and threatenings faced in aspects of economy, society, culture, population, environment, politics, laws and technologies, simultaneously, advantages and inferior positions in aspects of the hospital's own quality, marketing ability, financial administration, organization, management information system, etc., and finally, makes a feasible strategic scheme which benefits development of the No.2 People's Hospital of Lanzhou.The thesis is the organized result of theory and practice, its content draws materials in the truth in management and administration of the No.2 People's Hospital of Lanzhou, therefore, it can be said to be a vivid case of strategic management. Meanwhile, some strategic analytical methods and strategic management theory and thinking involved used in the article have greater universality and practicability, moreover, they can provide certain guidance and reference function to the strategic management of other hospitals and even other enterprises.
