Research On The Design Of Educational Games For Autistic Children

In China, research on children with autism started relatively late. In the theory and practice of rehabilitation and education for autistic children, people tend to pay attention to traditional educational interventions, neglecting the research and application of modern educational technology. Looking abroad, a growing literature supports the general effectiveness of the technology, such as video, computers, virtual reality, and robotics.Currently, educational game is a hotspot of study, whose educational value has been recognized widely. We all know that "game is the nature of children", then whether this new educational technology can be used for the education of children with autism? How to design educational games for children with autism? Answer to these two issues is the focus of this study.Firstly, based on reflection of the domestic traditional educational inventions and inspiration from the successful application of technology abroad, combined with analysis of the characteristics of subject, autistic children, and object, educational games, the idea that introduce the educational game into education and rehabilitation for children with autism has been proposed. Secondly, the main theoretical basis of this study has been deeply analyzed, based on which comes on game design-related inspiration. Then taking autistic children's cognitive, learning and game characteristics and educational rehabilitation objectives into account, three game design models have been proposed:SaE model, HS-ABA model and SS model. This research also puts forward three game design notes:adaptability, male sexual orientation games, tips and tip-fade. Finally, two games have been designed following the SaE model and HS-ABA model, one of which has been developed and applied into the education for children with autism, in order to test and improve the related theory.
