Internet has changed the ways of our work and life remarkably. People have been in enthusiasm of studying it for this reason. In order to better understand the development of Internet, researchers are paying more and more attention to study and analyze Internet's topologies and attributes.This thesis specializes particularly in methods and evaluation metrics of Internet IP level topology measurement. First of all, the-state-of-art of the relevant researches from both home-and foreign-land were reviewed; after that we introduce the theory and methods about the network topology measurement; and then we presented our three new evaluation metrics, including furthest hop, response rate of intermediate hops and identical IP path.Furthermore, this thesis provides two new probe methods based on mixed and hybrid TCP packets and OSPF routing protocol packets. With large-scale network topology measurement experiments, we analyze and validate the two kinds of methods by a variety of metrics. Finally, our experiment results demonstrate their feasibility and effectiveness of these new methods.
