In recent years, with the development of economic and general improvement of people's living standard, and being accompanied technology of computer, network, image processing, video compression etc, are rapidly progress. Under these circumstances, video image monitoring system has been already widely applied in many occasions, such as government, schools, banks, military, family. Furthermore, there is a growing tendency to video image diversification with the features as digitalization, networking, real-time performance and other illustrious characteristics.This paper is a remote video monitoring system design based on SOPC technology which has grown up in recent several years. SOPC is a sort of programmable technology which has been applied to embedded system. Microprocessor could also be realized in FPGA by this technology. As a result of SOPC technology, making it not only have the rich hardware and software resources of the microprocessor system, but also have the high speed logic of FPGA. Being compared to traditional methods, the cost, complexity and power consumption of system could be reduced.The main task of this paper is as follows:(1) Studied history of video monitoring system and knowledge-related of SOPC.(2) Studied and designed the SOPC system based on embedded processor Nios II and the whole hardware development platform.(3) Studied principle of work and manners to realize of CMOS image sensor and designed the module of image's acquisition module and image's storage.(4) Studied structure and programming mode of uC/OS-II real-time operating system, and completed and running the system of uC/OS-II on NiosII.(5) Studied architecture and principle of TCP/IP protocol and designed bottom driver based on chip DM9000. Moreover, successfully realized LwIP networking stack.(6) Debugged and analyzed the system with some tools, such as SignalTapII,. Mastered the debugging methods of software and hardware of SOPC technology.
