DDS technology is an innovative circuit architecture that allows fast and precisemanipulation of its output frequency under full digital control. DDS also enables very highresolution in the increment selection of output frequency. The generated signals haveadvantages of high frequency resolutions, fast frequency switching, continuous phasewhile frequency switching, low noise phase and being able to generate arbitrarywave forms.The paper describes the principle of DDS, summarizes the research result of thesources and analysis on spurious signals in DDS, review the techniques and method of spurreduction. using the specific DDS IC module AD9854 not only generate the sine andsquare vaweforms. An arbitrary waveforms generator which can generate the trianglewaveform, sawtooth waveform, FM, PM, AM, and other waveforms are genereted withFPGA. The design and debugging of the hardware and the software are finished.
